Did you know that March is Women's History Month??
Many women from the United States and around the world have made major contributions to enrich our society and the world as a whole. Many women are also known for their passion and involvement in Global Citizenship and STEM.
" A global citizen sees themselves and others as human beings. A global citizen does not discriminate based on nationality, race, or religion. A global citizen sees these differences as fascinating--as new things to be learned and respected. The beauty of being able to learn from every individual, place and event amazes a global citizen, and they also recognize that they have something to offer. Global citizens respect human rights, stay informed on global affairs, and have a love for travel. They are inspired by their love and interest in all people."
"STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM is important because it is part of our lives. Science is everywhere in the world around us. Technology is continuously expanding. Engineering is the basic designs of roads and bridges, but also tackles the challenges of changing global weather and environmentally-friendly changes to our home. Mathematics is in every occupation, every activity we do in our lives."

In honor of Women's History Month, you are going to research an influential woman who is passionate about and has been recognized for her work around global issues or science technology (STEM.) You will design a visual biography on two 12x12 sheets of scrapbook paper (we will give this to you.)
Project Requirements:
1. The name of the woman you selected is prominently displayed. 2. You must include at least 3-5 pictures of visuals. You may draw them or print them from the internet. 3. Create a timeline of your woman's life that includes at least 8-10 significant events in her personal and professional life. Make sure you show her commitment to the issues/topics that led her to be the influential woman she was (or still is!) This timeline can be in any form you wish. 4. Include any additional interesting facts that you learned about your woman while researching |
Be creative! You may use stickers, clip art, drawings, borders, etc. Type or write your written work NEATLY in pen, and make sure an adult at home helps you edit for spelling and grammar. Use your imagination to make your creation both informative AND pleasing to look at. Think about the pretty factor!
